2016-2017 Proposed Pavement Management Projects
We have proposed a mill and overlay and water main replacement project on portions of South 4th Street to take place yet this year. The council will consider awarding this bid on August 22nd. We are also proposing a total reconstruct of North 2nd Street from Ferry to Grove for 2017.
Sidewalk Projects
The 2016 Sidewalk Project includes replacement of the sidewalk in Legion Park, behind the Community Center and removal of the sidewalk on North 3rd Street.
The City was awarded a $383,000 TAP grant to replace the sidewalks on South 4th Street from Davis to St. Anne’s, along a portion of North and South 5th Street and along a portion of Ferry Street between Elmwood and 4th Street. Grant funds are available in 2019 but we are able to begin construction in advance and receive reimbursement. Due to federal requirements of this grant, we need to acquire some temporary and permanent easements, which can take several months. Therefore, we have not yet set a timeframe on construction.
An inventory of all City sidewalks has been completed and were rated according to how many panels in each block need to be replaced. We will continue to work those sidewalks into each year’s budget plans for replacement to provide easier mobility throughout the City.
