[ARCHIVED] Sewer Rehabilitation Project

Update 2/25/25:

Contractors will begin in the Distel and Ridge Road area and moving to North 4th St (see maps, below).

Affected properties will receive a door hanger, which will provide notification of the anticipated dates (and key information) of any` temporary service disruption dates.

Contractors will be installing cured-in-place-pipe (CIPP) liners in the City’s existing sanitary sewer system. These liners will help prevent the infiltration of groundwater into the sanitary sewer system as well as rehabilitate the structural integrity of this critical piece of public infrastructure.  Work will begin on February 25th along South 4th Street and move on to the Distel neighborhood.

Affected property and business owners have received notification via mail.  During the installation of the liner, sanitary sewer service will be temporarily blocked while the main line sewer liner is installed.  Following the successful curing of the liner, a robot cutting device will be placed in the newly lined pipe to internally reinstate/cut-out service connection.

Before commencing the lining work, the contractor plans to begin this project by pre-cleaning and inspecting the sewer segments that will be rehabilitated with this project.  There should be no disruption to service for the pre-cleaning portion of the work.  Affected properties will receive a door hanger, which will provide notification of the anticipated dates (and key information) of any` temporary service disruption dates.

Residents may smell an odor like plastic or glue during the pipe lining. This will be dissipated quickly once the process is completed. To prevent smells from entering your home during the lining process through the private sewer line, fill any lower floor drains and infrequently used sinks with a small amount of water. This water will collect in the bend in the drain, called a "P-trap," and block odors from the sewer.

If you have questions, concerns with this service disruption, or would like to discuss potential alternative arrangements for your property please contact Pete Burns, Water/Wastewater Manager at 507-593-8373 or pburns@cityoflesueur.com.
