Hello and welcome to Fall!
It’s a beautiful day out there today, and I welcome Fall with open arms. This is my favorite time of year, and I hope to get out and enjoy the weather this weekend. As always, if anyone has questions about City operations or just want to chat, I can most easily be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org or by phone at 507-593-8312; now onto City business.
September 10th City Council Meeting
There is a City Council meeting on Monday the 10th, and we have a few big items. The first being is adopting a resolution establishing our preliminary levy. What this means is that City Council will adopt a levy amount that has some wiggle room for items we don’t have specific numbers for yet, like general liability insurance, health insurance, and a bunch of other things we won’t find out about until around October.
The last few items are related to board and commission stipends, City Council pay, which can only be updated before an election and enacted after, public purpose expenditures, and our Cable Access Television channel. There are all very important items, so feel free to ask questions.
Downtown Master Plan Town Hall
A town hall event will be held at the ValleyGreen Square Mall, in the ValleyGreen Room, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on September 19, 2018. If you are interested in going over and discussing the findings and proposals related to the Downtown Master Plan adopted by the City Council in 2017, please attend and ask some questions!!
City-Wide Clean-Up Day
Residential City-Wide Clean-Up Day will be Saturday, September 22nd from 7:00 AM to noon. This is located at the Le Sueur Community Center Parking Lot. For more information, please visit our webpage: https://www.cityoflesueur.com/201/Refuse
Le Sueur Lions Breakfast Fly-in/Drive-in
There is a neat event that is occurring on Sunday at the Le Sueur Airport. The local Lions club puts on a fly-in/drive-in breakfast of which the proceeds support local community projects sponsored through the Le Sueur Lions Club. Take a look at their flyer on Facebook.
River Park Boat Access
The boat access at River Park experienced some damage from the last flood event toward the bottom of the access. The access is closed until the City, who is working with the MnDNR to repair the area completes the work. Keep an eye on Facebook and the website for updates about the boat access. We are hoping to have this boat ramp repaired in a week or two.
City Hall Hours
City Hall hours are shifting to non-summer hours, which is 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM, five days per week. Keep this in mind if you are planning to visit us. These hours are also the hours of the Le Sueur Police Department.
I hope everyone has a great weekend, keep an eye on Facebook and the paper as the Le Sueur City Council Candidate Forum is currently being planned by the Chamber of Commerce. We have six candidates who are up for the election of three seats on City Council. I wish them all luck and remind people to get out and vote!
