City Council

Role & Responsibilities

The Le Sueur City Council exercises the legislative power of the City and determines all matters of policy.  For example, the City Council approves the annual budget for the general fund and utility operations, all bills paid by the City, City licenses and permits and all contracts between the City and 3rd parties.  In addition, the Council oversees the activities of numerous boards and committees that report to the City Council.

The City Council consists of 7 elected members (6 Council Members and Mayor).  Each Council member is elected for a 4-year term to represent 1 of the 2 wards in the City.
