The Le Sueur City Council exercises the legislative power of the City and determines all matters of policy. For example, the City Council approves the annual budget for the general fund and utility operations, all bills paid by the City, City licenses and permits and all contracts between the City and 3rd parties. In addition, the Council oversees the activities of numerous boards and committees that report to the City Council.
The City Council consists of 7 elected members (6 Council Members and Mayor). Each Council member is elected for a 4-year term to represent 1 of the 2 wards in the City.
City Council meetings are conducted the 2nd & 4th Monday of each month. They are held in the City Hall Council Chambers and begin at 6:30pm. Meetings are streamed live and available for viewing at any time via the City's Livestream page. Citizens are encouraged to attend meetings and/or watch the meetings to stay informed on issues, ideas and strategies affecting the City of Le Sueur.
The City of Le Sueur is always looking for volunteers for various boards and committees. By being an active, informed citizen, you can help shape your community. For more information on the current volunteer needs, call Stacy Lawrence, Communications Director/City Clerk, at (507) 665-6401.
